Approach :: Philosophy
We create solutions that empower our clients. We are a consultancy, not an agency. We want to solve your problems, not "keep your business." We get it right the first time.
As engineers and artists, we bring the experience of industrial design to
the virtual space. We believe in ergonomic design for the mind and the eye.
We do more than design websites; we build Virtual Machines: multimedia,
information architecture, eCommerce engines. And we are committed to giving our clients the tools they need.
To build customer relationships, you need more than a web site, you need an integrated marketing strategy. And it needs to be simple, flexible, and cost effective. We work with our clients to define strategies and products that meet business, brand, and user goals.
Designers need to translate the business needs of their clients into physical reality. We are committed to creating ethical, responsible, ergonomically usable design solutions that meet business needs. That's what we love to do and we do it well.
Beyond Flatland
Visual information design and communication generally defaults to the flat space of the page. As interactive designers, we approach the web as a multidimensional space. On the web, we can show two-dimensional representations of three-dimensional objects. Buildings, people, products. Add the fourth dimension of time and they move and spin; virtual machines do real work.
There is always a physical manifestation of information, but there are no real world limitations. We can access time and space in a nonlinear manner. We have now moved into the territory of gods and quanta. Our creations can abide by the laws of nature or not. We can make a map of everything. We can build a representation of anything we want. Our restrictions are only time, computing capacity, and imagination.
New Media Design
How do you design an icon that in its form alerts the user to its anticipated use and function? It has to be intuitively obvious how you are meant to use it. If a tool is well designed its potential purposes will be apparent - the more complex a tool the greater the design challenge.
We have a new media that simulates and extends our environment. We are drawing on a centuries-old tradition of designing tools and products that work with our bodies and minds. We have embraced the principles of cognitive science and human factors engineering. We are designing for the next step in mental and physical evolution.
